~William E. Vaughan
~William E. Vaughan _"New Year's Day: Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual."
~Mark Twain _"An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves."
~William E. Vaughan _Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
The flying cloud, the frosty light; The year is dying in the night; Ring out, wild bells, and let him die. Ring out the old, ring in the new, Ring, happy bells, across the snow: The year is going, let him go; Ring out the false, ring in the true. Ring out the grief that saps the mind, For those that here we see no more, Ring out the feud of rich and poor, Ring in redress to all mankind. Ring out a slowly dying cause, And ancient forms of party strife; Ring in the nobler modes of life, With sweeter manners, purer laws. Ring out the want, the care the sin, The faithless coldness of the times; Ring out, ring out my mournful rhymes, But ring the fuller minstrel in. Ring out false pride in place and blood, The civic slander and the spite; Ring in the love of truth and right, Ring in the common love of good. Ring out old shapes of foul disease, Ring out the narrowing lust of gold; Ring out the thousand wars of old, Ring in the thousand years of peace. Ring in the valiant man and free, The larger heart, the kindlier hand; Ring out the darkness of the land, Ring in the Christ that is to be. ~Alfred, Lord Tennyson _A lovely thing about Christmas is that it's compulsory, like a thunderstorm, and we all go through it together.
~Garrison Keillor ___"For many of us, sadly, the spirit of Christmas is 'hurry'. And yet, eventually, the hour comes when the rushing ends and the race against the calendar mercifully comes to a close. It is only now perhaps that we truly recognize the spirit of Christmas. It is not a matter of days or weeks, but of centuries-nearly twenty of them now since that holy night in Bethlehem. Regarded in this manner, the pre-Christmas rush may do us greater service than we realize. With all its temporal confusion, it may just help us to see that by contrast, Christmas itself is eternal."
~William E. Vaughan _I am the beginning of the end, and the end of time and space. I am essential to creation, and I surround every place. What am I?
Answer - (The letter e. End, timE, spacE, Every placE) _Happy thanksgiving!
Thankfulness, as a general sentiment, seems to be less and less common these days. As a society we grumble about the unpleasant moments of our lives. We lament the things we don't have, the circumstances we wish were ours. Is short, we seem to think we are somehow owed more. Today of all days we should strive to see our blessings. Even the lowest among us can generally say “I am still here! I am alive, and as long as that is true there is hope.” Today if nothing else recognize that you are still alive and remember the ones who died, and are dying, to make it possible. _There's not a kingdom on the earth,
But I have travelled over and over, And though I know not whence my birth, Yet when I come, you know my roar. I through the town do take my flight, And through the fields and meadows green, And whether it be day or night, I neither am nor can be seen. Answer - (The wind) I have added an AutoHotkey page. I figured since this site only exists as a home for my AHk scripts, I might as well explain a little about it and try to get visitors interested in using it themselves.
